The superfood craze of 2015 saw the lesser-known kale, chia, and açaí become part of our daily rituals. From smoothies to soups, and even “flu shots” (who hasn’t downed a turmeric and cayenne shot at your local juice bar?), we all hopped on the well-being bandwagon and enjoyed the hype. So what new health trends will 2016 ring in? Well+Good shared their most buzzed-about wellness predictions for the year ahead.  Scroll down to see which ones made the cut.

Every meal will be served out of a bowl.

We’re already big fans of the smoothie bowl—we even made them into soups—but 2016 will be the year every meal comes out of one.  If Well+Good’s predictions turn out to be true, we’ll be eating bowl-specific meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Move aside kale, there’s a new green in town.

You could say that 2015 was the year of green and kale was the ring leader. From Oprah-approved chips to wintry salads, everybody was stocking up on this nutritional green and adding it to their daily diets. But it seems kale has some stiff competition from the popular ocean superfood—seaweed. Even The New Yorker coined it “a miracle food, if we can figure out how to make it taste good.” Scotland’s Mara Seaweed CEO and co-founder Fiona Houston told Well+Good: “Seaweeds are amongst the most nutrient-dense plants on the planet, and as they have access to all the nutrients in the sea, they are an extremely rich source of minerals.” Are you ready to replace kale with seaweed?

Your social calendar will include meditation.

We’ve heard about the many health benefits of meditation in 2015 and how it can keep you sane, but this year the quiet practice is set to go social. What do we mean by that? Well your social calendar will look very different in 2016, because slotted next to your girl’s night out and that work dinner will be a meditation session in the park.  Meditating is the new happy hour. For those who practice meditation already, they know that it is one of the most profound things you can experience. There’s an energy, it feels special, there’s something really cool about bringing people to socialise and connect around quiet, around meditation.
