Societe Magazine attended an opening lunch today to celebrate the arrival of highly-acclaimed Malaysian restaurant Madam Woo, as it opened its fifth eatery – the first in the Garden City. What we experienced were fresh, big and authentic authentic flavours that we know Christchurch locals will love!
Born from a life-long love for Malaysian cuisine, Michelin-star chef Josh Emett and business partner Fleur Caulton are proud co-founders of Madam Woo and are thrilled to unveil yet another restaurant.
“With Madam Woo we really wanted to bring kiwis a unique dining experience with big personality that reflects the hustle and bustle of Malay street food. With the success of our other four restaurants across the country we decided it was the right time to bring the vibrant and full flavours from Malaysia to the streets of Christchurch,” says Emett.
The new Christchurch restaurant is stylishly designed to reflect the colourful identity of Madam Woo with each detail of décor contributing to its vibrant and bold character.
“With each of our Madam Woo locations we seek to establish a fun, lively and enjoyable environment that guests want to be a part of time and time again,” says Caulton.
Offering energetic and bold dishes inspired by traditional Malaysian flavours, the Madam Woo Christchurch menu will include Madam Woo favourites such as honey and soy tossed squid, stir fried pork belly and of course the famous Hawker Roll, a roti Canai style roll topped with your choice of fillings.
Every mouthful was utter perfection – you cannot go wrong with whatever you choose! If you are overwhelmed with the choices available in front of you make sure you discuss your options with the server. Madam Woo’s incredible server-team will be able to guide you through recommendations based on your preferences to curate a picture-perfect menu just for you.
The new restaurant on 255 St Asaph Street is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, and will also offer a takeaway service.
